BIOECONOMY PITCHING, MATCHMAKING AND NETWORKING

The Canadian Trade Commissioner Service and the Canadian Council of Forest Ministers are partnering with BioeconomyVentures to organize a Pitching, Matchmaking and networking workshop on October 4 (9.30-18.30 CET), in Barcelona at the H10 Art Gallery Hotel.
Target audience: Start-ups, large companies, research organisations and technology or service providers operating in the forestry bioeconomy, biomass, biochemical and bioproducts sectors. Innovation key players with ongoing or planned bioeconomy related projects willing to explore the Spanish and European markets.
Objective: Creating new partnerships for the further development of innovative, cross-border and cross-sectoral industrial value chains in the bioeconomy.
After a fruitful Bilateral Bioeconomy Forum, we are ready to keep supporting Canadian companies explore opportunities in the bioeconomy sector. Expanding research and development networks and technology collaborations.
The Spanish and Canadian markets are promoting bioeconomy strategies at national and regional level. The whole forestry value chain (obtaining and processing of wood activities, cork, resin, pulp and paper), as well as to the bioenergy and other bioproducts subsectors are triggers for economic development and have a great potential for generating added value.
According to the EU Joint Research Center, the EU the bio-based industries made a contribution of 780 billion EUR in 2018 to the EU’s economy, an increase of 30 billion EUR (+4%) compared to 2017. In the EU there were 400 biorefineries at commercial or demonstration scale in 2020. The bio-based chemicals and materials supply from EU biorefineries is estimated at 4.6 million tonnes. This growing sector and offers Canadian stakeholders opportunities for growth.
